ACTIVITIES

Cycling

Routes NCN 1 and 68, the Tweed Cycleway and the Northumberland Coast and Castles cycle route, which links to the C2C route, all pass our door. Cyclists are very welcome and we offer secure bike storage.

Fishing

Course fishing is readily available in the River Tweed from our riverbank and we can arrange rod fishing permits for salmon and trout on the Tweed and its tributaries, in season; and sea fishing from Berwick, Seahouses, Eyemouth and St Abb’s.

Walking

North Northumberland and the eastern Borders offer unlimited walking opportunities. The Southern Upland Way and St Cuthbert’s Way are close at hand and the Cheviot hills and coastal paths are readily accessible. There are riverside walks in all directions from Chain Bridge House. We will do what we can to pick up/drop off guests who wish to undertake linear walks along the Tweed – just ask! We have an excellent range of maps and guide books which guests are welcome to borrow on excursions.

Golfing

There are nine golf courses within easy reach of Chain Bridge House…. at Berwick (Goswick and Magdalene Fields) (five miles); Coldstream (The Hirsel) (ten miles); Belford, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Eyemouth, Duns and Wooler (fifteen miles).
